Complexity sets how many resources a world has and how much its recipes mix them. Pick the levels you want.
World gimmick
Cultivated (plant) resources
Open a rift
Rifts only lead to worlds your barges have charted. To chart more, send a barge exploring: Route… → Expedition.
Jump pod
Machines you pack leave this world and arrive with you, on top of the usual starting kit. They can come from your inventory or any chest here; the pod holds 200 in total, so leave room for the higher tiers.
Transfer between world and barge
The barge is docked, so its stores and your world inventory can trade freely. Standard machines and rift items can go aboard.
Route
Emergency return:
Or send it once:
Expedition
Send the barge out to chart new worlds for your rifts. It leaves from its dock and returns there, burning drift cells and facing wraiths like any crossing. Worlds are charted as it passes them, and stay charted even if the barge is lost.
Wraiths attack barges in the rift, never at a dock. Turrets fed with rounds shoot them; Repair Bays fed with kits mend machines nearby, engines first. A barge that loses its last engine in the rift is lost with everything aboard. Load and unload work through Rift Docks built in each world. A barge needs at least one Drift Engine with drift cells loaded (inserters can feed them) to leave a dock; out of fuel in the rift, it only drifts. Bigger barges are heavier and slower. For now only standard machines and rift items travel as cargo.
Rift network
Final research complete
A rift has opened, and three worlds have been charted. Step through to found an outpost on one of them and bring machines in a jump pod; to find more worlds, send a barge exploring. This world stays as it is, and you can travel back any time. You can also now build a Barge Yard here to launch barges into the rift.
Seedworks
Every seed grows a different industry: its raw resources, their parts, the machines that shape them and the research that unlocks them. Some seeds are tidy, some are tangled.
